Some Diagrams

In the next few weeks there will be more extensive postings to come, but I thought for the moment I would post two diagrams. These two particular diagrams were used in my progress presentation, one is a mind map detailing my primary sources and one is a ven diagram showing the main philosophical strands: phenomenology, ineffability, and the sublime. It is important to me to further unpick how these things fit together. My research is concerned with the generation of the ineffable experience; and it’s important to note the ineffable experience has phenomenological aspects, however the phenomenological experience does not always have aspects of the ineffable. The word sublime might seem to be slotted in almost arbitrarly, but it’s important to note that I am not investigating the historical aspects of the sublime aesthetic-rather I look at the term sublime as another way of defining the ineffable.
